Dear Stuart and Lake House staff,

I would like to thank you and the entire staff at the Lake House, for playing a key role in turning my life around. I entered the Lake House on April 6, 2010 and four short months later, my life has never been better.

During my stay, your staff, educated me and gave me their personal one on one time, advice, education, and useful tools that I needed to learn, in order to live a productive life with my disease. Following my stay, I continue to attend Alcoholic Anonymous meetings, be of service to fellow alcoholics, and work the “Twelve steps“. Your staff taught me the importance of working a program to maintain my sobriety. Along with the staff, the Doctors, Therapists Addiction Specialists associated with the Lake House full service recovery program, were key to my sobriety. It was a blessing to have such talented professionals provided for me.

The Lake House will always have a special place in my heart and if any clients or potential clients would like to talk to me, regarding my experience, in your program, I would be happy for you to give them my contact information.

Thank you again for helping me get my life back and showing me that it is possible to put my problems behind me.

Sincerely, Mark Ortega

I came to the Lakehouse hopeless and suicidal after stuggling to get sober for a year. On my first day, one of the house managers sat with me on my bed and said, “it’s going to be OK. I’m never going to let go of your hand.” That was my introduction to supportive and compassionate sober living af the Lakehouse. The love and trust I have received from house managers has given me back hope and faith and allowed me to begin life over as a strong and resilient person confident that I can remain sober on a daily basis. I owe my life to the Lakehouse and firmly believe that my stay here was the best decision I have ever made.

I had come to the realization that I can’t exist in this world alone. I needed help. With the help of good friends I was directed to the Lake house Sober Living program through Recovery Advocates. I had started my journey of recovery.

Recovery starts anytime when you want it to start and are willing to take direction. Once there, I took suggestions, got a sponser, and went to meetings. Lynee and Jennifer were two staff members that made a huge influence with my personal recovery. They take the time to give individual attention to the clients, to discuss their feelings and help with problems that will inevitably come up.

I was originally going to stay for one month. Once I saw my growth as a responsible sober person I stayed an additional two months. As a result of my experience in that program I now have a high commitment to sobriety and continue to work a great program.
